What makes us a Cut above the Competition?

I’ll tell you.

While there are a lot of companies out there that know how to use a chainsaw, very few are familiar with the insect and disease problems that we have in our trees here in Michigan.

Why is this important?

Most of these diseases are spread to other trees from spurs, saws, ropes, shears and other trimming equipment. Also when trimming a tree or shrub its important to identify these insects and diseases and remove the infected limbs from the tree or plant you are working on. Further more once the infected parts of a tree are removed the equipment used to remove those limbs should be disinfected to prevent the spreading of that insect or disease to other property’s in near by neighborhoods.

Companies that are capable of applying pesticides to your trees must be licensed and certified by the state, and must be retested every 3 years to maintain that license. Obtaining a license to provide these types of services is not an easy task because of the knowledge and education required to do so. A large majority of the tree services here in Oakland county are not licensed to provide these services.

If you hire a tree service to trim your trees that is not licensed to apply insecticides and fungicides they are most likely unable to recognize these problems even exist in your trees. Companies that just trim and remove trees are not required by the state to even have a license. I know this sounds crazy but, its true. Anyone can buy a chainsaw and a brush chipper and start a tree service in Michigan.

You have probably seen many of these small companies working in your neighborhood. If your hiring a tree service to trim your trees chances are you have some poor looking trees on your property that you are wanting to clean up. The first step should be to identify what’s causing your trees to look they way they do in the first place.

That’s where we come in

If you have trees on your property that are battling health problems we can tell you why and take the necessary steps to identify and cure those problems.

How do you do that?

By incorporating the use of Integrated Pest Management. IPM is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices.

IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, (including proper trimming techniques) is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture provides information to the public of such companies that are certified to diagnose and treat insect and disease problems here in Michigan. Follow the link below to their website and see if your current tree company is listed there. Chances are they are not.
